Good Morning
I could not think of a better way of introducing myself other than taking an early morning walk with you.
In 2017, at the age of 70, I had my first swimming lesson. Then, I started a training journey, and journal, to compete in the Senior Olympics swimming competition after that power walking.
I failed my training over and over for a lot of reasons. I spent too much time finishing my book, The Witch’s Heart – Tale of Emma McGrael © – I spent too many hours writing in my journal. Un-ending chores and projects, health issues and, to be honest, I am a terrible swimmer and walker… on and on… BUT… I really failed for two reasons.
Never did I search for nor embrace magnificence.
Magnificence is that internal fire within all things, that spark of inspiration which nurtures the soul, that which gives true meaning and purpose to one’s journey, fosters the courage to simply show up on competition day which is a victory in its self. …something to become.
And, in all those years, I measured my successes and failures not by my own standards, or abilities, but by the opinions of others and society’s expectations, demands, as one on the other side of youth knows… society can be destructive to one’s own self-image especially if you are not a part of the trend of the day.
I have restarted my journey and journal titled, “A Senior’s Journey for Magnificence ©” – to learn from my past, future successes and failures, to welcome others, especially those on the other side of youth, not to give up – and – I started a website to hold myself accountable to myself.
I know my journey ahead is going to be hard, I can easily fail, and staying on the path is harder as I get older and my “to do” list grows, but the outcome could be magnificence. I can become stronger, healthier, more confident – if I don’t give up – if I search for my own magnificence.
If you are still with me, well it can’t be my wonderful video skills or my incredible public speaking, that keeps you watching – and I don’t really know – but – I think you are on a journey too?
I hope your journey will not be mean, destructive or cruel but something positive – kindness and understanding for yourself, especially for yourself, and those around you.
I hope that you will find your magnificence. Don’t put yourself down. You are strong. You are capable. You can become an inspiration to yourself, others and to their journeys to find a better version of themselves.
Be safe in all that you do. Always follow your own advice as you, not me, are the best guide to the journey you are on.
Thank you for watching.
